Here it's July.
We're already
planning for the end of Summer.
We know
that some day in August
we will feel the
irreversible chill
that will rot the hearts
of the flowers and open
the gates of darkness.

We prepare our jackets
for the night air.
There is no more trust
in the sun.
Already the chill curls
just below the surface
of the breeze.
